This capacity enhances flexibility of both Spanish and Portuguese networks and consequently integrates the Portuguese market at Iberian Peninsula level. The 3 rd IP between Spain and Portugal allows a better integration of Iberian and European markets and therefore improving competition in these markets. It also contributes to diversification of European gas supplies, promoting the market integration, security of supply and competition.
