The most used energy sources in Estonia (oil shale and wood fuels) are local ener- gy sources. Natural gas, even though having a small share in the energy mix, has al- ways been an important energy source in the energy mix, mainly contributing to heating sector. Figures 3.10 and 3.11 show primary energy sources used for heat production in 2015 (Source: Statistics Estonia) and electricity production by fuel sources in 2015 (Source: Elering). The total supply of primary energy in 2014 for heat production was 10,319GWh/year. The total production of electricity in 2015 was 9,062GWh/year.
